Adjectives (PÅ™Ãdavná jména)
Adjectives describe nouns. In Czech, they must agree with the noun they modify in:
- Gender
- Number
- Case
Position
Adjectives usually come before the noun.
- Dobrý den. (Good day.)
- Velké město. (Big city.)
If they come after the noun, it is usually for poetic emphasis or in specific scientific classifications (kyselina sÃrová - sulfuric acid).
Types
There are two main types of adjectives based on their ending in the dictionary form (Nominative Singular Masculine):
- Hard: Ends in -ý (mladý).
- Soft: Ends in -Ã (jarnÃ).
