Motion Verbs (Slovesa pohybu)

Czech distinguishes between determinate (one-way, right now) and indeterminate (repeated, general, round-trip) motion.

Walking (Jít vs. Chodit)​

Transport (Jet vs. Jezdit)​

Flying (Letět vs. Létat)​

  • LetÄ›t: LetĂ­m do USA. (I am flying to the USA [now].)
  • LĂ©tat: LĂ©tám rád. (I like flying [generally].)

Future Tense​

Motion verbs form the future with the prefix po- (for determinate verbs).

  • Jdu → PĹŻjdu
  • Jedu → Pojedu
  • LetĂ­m → PoletĂ­m

For indeterminate verbs, use the standard future with být:
